Soooo tired.
I have been working like crazy all day long. Aaaaaaaand it's late. Aaaaaaaand I'm tired.
However, I am eagerly anticipating the release of my birthday present on November 23...
Yep. My man did good. :)
That's not all. I was spoiled. So many other goodies to share - a sweet little dollie, some decorating books on color and fabric, a beautiful picture of two birds beak to beak, (I'll show you later,) and did I mention I received flowers for my "birthday eve?"
Can you see the beautiful birdie in the bouquet?
Thanks for making my birthday so special, Scott.
I love you.

A Happy Place
This week, I have been spending time in my very favorite place:
MY STUDIO!
Oh...how I've missed you! I haven't been there all summer, so during the past few days, I've really been enjoying my time there.
One of my favorite things about my studio is the location. I can walk down the street, to one of my favorite yummy spots, Pajama Baking Company.
As I walk down the block, there are sooooooooooo many amazing flowers. Love them!
They make me so happy!
I spent the day rearranging my studio. Photos to come!!
On a different note...
Ever since school started, the monkeys have been bugging me to get them some "silly bands." Apparently, all the kids are wearing them. Don't I sound old when I say that? :)
These bracelets are sold in different shapes, like cars and animals and super heros. Some are even glow-in-the-dark. My monkeys were BEGGING me to get them some.
Well...I finally caved.
I was thinking, "What's the big deal? These are dumb little pieces of rubber." But then I remembered when I was a kid.
I just HAD to have a rainbow shirt,
a single, white glove,
a Rubik's Cube,
parachute pants,
Madonna bracelets,
a Swatch Watch or two,
etc.
Sigh. Here we go. My mom not only put up with my trend-following requests. She always ENCOURAGED me express myself in whatever way I needed to. That was VERY necessary for me to become the creative individual I am, today. Guess it's my turn to support my kids as they do the same.
Tune in soon for pics of my newly rearranged studio! It's almost Friday!

Mimi's Monday Delights...music!!!
As I feverishly work to get ready for the Colorado Handmade reception, this Friday at Talulah Jones...

I thought I might share with you, a few musical treasures that get me through the day. There are some new favorites and some "old faithfuls." Here they are!!
1. Michael Jackson, (you might have heard of him...)

2. St. Vincent - check her out. She's amazing.

3. Black Moth Super Rainbow - so fun!

4. Jay-Z - his voice makes me insane (in a good way.)

5. Phoenix - I have loved them since I heard them in "Lost in Translation." Their new album BLEW me away. Now you can hear their music on car commercials and tv shows. :(

6. Mouchette - so musically mysterious + my sweet friend is in the band!!

There are some others but my silly computer is acting up. Look up these bands. They are amazing!!
Happy Monday!! Get some sleep, people!!

Hit The Ground Running...

Hope you had a fabulously frightful Halloween. I know the monkeys and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Aren't they scary?

So frightening...

...yet so freakin' cute!! The snow melted enough for us to navigate thru our trick-or-treating route. It's hard to believe we were stuck in the middle of a "winter wonderland" only two days ago.

While I was couped up in the house, I had time to give myself a pedicure.

I thought black w/ green polka-dots might be perfect for Halloween. The snow also gave me a chance to catch up on much-needed housework. Today it was so warm, I had to run the a/c in the car! That's the wonderful thing about the weather in Colorado. It's always changing. There is still a little snow around...just enough for snowball fights.

We went to see "This Is It" on Friday night. If you are a fan of Michael Jackson, it is a MUST-SEE. If you are not a fan, it will inspire you to appreciate his enormous talent.

I cried through the majority of the movie, mostly because it took me back to that special place in junior high where I feel like his talent really shaped me, creatively. Even though his face changed a lot...he never really changed as a performer. Even at 50 years old, he moved like no one else can. He was by far THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER EVER.
And so it is November. This is going to be a very busy month for me. I have a birthday. So does Evan. Fern and Sprout will be featured in a fashion show, (My first one!!!)

as well as two other shows.

I better get crackin!!!!

Stay tuned for new designs from Fern and Sprout this week!! I am so excited to show you! Happy November!

Snowed in...

In the midst of my cabin fever, I came up with a little easy project. I've been seeing lots of vintage enamal pins in the world of blogs. I have a small collection of them, mostly given to me by my Grandmother, a long time ago. They've been sitting in my drawer, but they are too beautiful for that. So I decided to pin them all to the pillow - which I also received from my Grandmother, on my fancy couch.

I think it looks pretty cute...

...and now I can look at them every day and think of her...

...not to mention it will give my fancy couch a POP of color! Loooove that.
Check this out...

When I say "snowed in" I mean SNOWED IN!! I must admit, this picture is for dramatic effect. This is the snow on top of cars behind my house - but it looks like big snowdrifts, doesn't it? We have about two feet out there. It's beautiful but I am ready to get out of the house. The monkeys are, too.

I'm taking my mom to see "This Is It" for her birthday, tomorrow night. I can't wait. I still miss Michael. :(
Stay warm, people!!!
